UPDATE: Sullivan Co. Jail To Keep Certification

BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. (WKPT) – The Sullivan County Jail will keep its certification after Sheriff Wayne Anderson and County Mayor Richard Venable attended a Tennessee Corrections Institute Board meeting Wednesday.

Last week we reported a jail inspector recommended not renewing the detention center’s certification because of procedural issues with some paperwork and overcrowding.

The sheriff’s office say the board allowed the jail to maintain its certification after the sheriff told the board how his office addressed the problems.

Mayor Venable says he also told the board he plans to form a committee to address the concerns in the report.
